-worship was refreshing
-Bro Pauline brought a short word before heading to the river for baptism
Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.(KJV)
-it is not to get saved BUT rather a proper response to what has taken place in your heart.
Math 3:13-15
-it’s to fulfill righteousness, Jesus didn’t need it because He was a sinner but to fulfill all righteousness.
We have been living WAY to much in our comfort zones, and not taking our commision seriously. Our purpose is to make disciples not make members of this church but disciples who are members of Christs Bride.
It’s a symbol! today we will witness the death of several, it’s like a funeral, a symbolic way of the person dieing, their past is gone.
2 Cor 5:17 – prepare for the new!
Water baptism is a symbol to identify yourself as a disciple of Jesus Christ. Similar to how communion is a symbol of who you belong to.
Gal 3:27 – it symbolized, that we are baptized into Christ and have clothed ourselves with Christ.
Baptized: comes from baptismo, an outward representation of something inwardly which is taking place in your life.
Water in biblical symbolism always represents inner cleansing. All the past, old man, shortcomings, sins will be washed down the river, this is the symbolism.
It is like a funeral, a way of testifying to God, people, the world, the church members that the person you were before is dead and buried and you are raised as a new creation in Christ.
Romans 6:4-5
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.(NIV)
It’s a command of the Lord!
as here in the word:
Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.(KJV)
Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.(KJV)
Those who are being baptized today, you need to know you are fulfilling the command of the Lord.
