Rom 8: put to death the sin and you will live
-Yeast is a metaphor for sin; a little yeast works through a whole batch of dough, exactly like sin a bit of it will affect our entire lives!
-we need to live our lives without will full sin.
-what we learn from yeast teaches about the nature of sin. Yeast is alive, it’s a fungus that grows and doubles in size. Sin also is something that lives and grows. Sin needs to be put to death. God told Cain he must master it when it was crouching at his door.
We must put our sins to death!
But how?
1. Repentance: sorrowful contrite hearts
2. Confession: sometimes it’s personal between us and The Lord but often it needs to be exposed by confessing to another
3. Stop playing with it, treat it like it’s dead, we bury dead things and never go back to it again, never visit it again, don’t revisit dead things to make sure it’s dead. If its dead its dead don’t go back to check on it! Don’t breath live into your old dead sins. It can kill us if we don’t kill it!
