Sermon:

The scripture is:  Matt 27:45-53.  Hebrew 10:19-22
The curtain that separated the Holy of Holies, it was 3-4 inches thick, hundreds of pounds and impossible to tear by mans hands! It took over 300 men just to wash it!

When Jesus died that curtain was torn from top to bottom.

GET THIS:
-the curtain separated God from the people.
-the curtain being torn is representative of his body being torn on the cross.
-when he died there his heart was torn in two giving us access directly to God.
-the curtain being torn is God giving us his very invitation and permission to come before God Boldly and with confidence!
-we no longer need to be afraid, prior to this the relationship was more fear based
-the perfect sacrifice has been given!

Hebrews 10:19-20
Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,(NIV)

We through Christs torn body have access to the holy of holies. IT was not torn so that God would come out but rather that WE could go in!!!!

We’ll go deeper in the weeks to come about how this torn veil is relevant for us today, we hope you’ll join us as we enter into the Holy of Holies.
