Luke 15:21-25

Who is the main character in this story? I think it’s the fattened calf. The dad asks the servants to bring the fattened calf and the older brother questions it. The Greek suggests the word ‘the’ is very important. It’s quite symbolic for both sons as well as the father.

To the older son: it was a reminder of his brother squandering his inheritance

To the father: it was a continual reminder that his son was yet to come home and they were just waiting. Perhaps that fatted calf was now massive as they continued to wait.

To the you get son: it was a sign of the abundant love the Father had for him

* when the Father saw the son coming He ran to embrace his son, he had been waiting!

*neat picture: as the calf was getting bigger and bigger the son was getting smaller and smaller
